Selling in a down market
Selling your property in a down market may not be easy, but it’s definitely not impossible. One of our most recent rehabs was put under contract in less than 1 month. Even if you are not a rehabber and your house could use some updates, there are still some tricks you could use to help sell your house faster, and at a price that works for you.
Tip number one has to do with curb appeal. Potential buyers get their very first impression of your property when they first drive up to it. If you have the money a fresh coat of paint on the exterior is always a good idea. If you don’t have the money on hand to do that, a simple and cheaper alternative is powerwashing the exterior to get any dirt and mildew off your siding. Keep your grass and bushes trimmed. A fresh layer of mulch for your flower beds always adds a nice touch. If possible, planting some new flowers or shrubs to grab a buyers attention is also an inexpensive idea. Another inexpensive way to add some pizzaz is to add some solar lighting along the sidewalk. Get rid of any weeds in cracks that may be in your driveway or sidewalk. Basically do anything you can to clean up your exterior because that first impression will influence the buyer’s mindset as they go inside your house. One thing you don’t want, is the buyers to walk inside your house with a predetermined negative attitude. Instead you want to make them excited to see the interior based on what they see on the exterior. We’ll discuss other simple strategies you can utilize when putting your home on the market in the next blog session.
