If your sink sprayer is leaking beneath the sink, you may be able to fix it by simply tightening the hose connections with a basin wrench. To replace a cracked or leaking hose, buy a replacement hose at a hardware store or home center. Braided, reinforced hose will provide longer service. Before beginning the repair, turn off the water at the sink. A leaking spray head can usually be repaired by replacing the washer or washers. Turn off the water at the sink and remove the spray head. There are washers at both ends, a hardware store will have replacements.

Step 1:

Use a basin wrench which is available at hardware stores to loosen the nut connecting the hose to the faucet. You’ll have to get under the sink to do this. Pad the area with a drop cloth because you’ll be in a really uncomfortable position and have a flashlight handy.

Step 2:

Remove spray head and pull out damaged hose. Feed replacement sprayer into sprayer hole in sink. Wrap Teflon tape clockwise on faucet threads so tape won’t come off as you attach the hose. Screw on the hose and tighten with the basin wrench.

Step 3:

Attach the hose to the spray head. Clear the spray head of any mineral deposits by soaking it in vinegar and water and punching out any blockages with florist’s wire or a pin. Turn the water back on and use the sprayer to check for leaks.
