Forced Air, Furnaces, & Boilers
Forced Air
A furnace is a central unit core to a traditional forced air heating system responsible for the careful regulation of air temperature and pressure throughout your home. By leveraging a series of meters the furnace is able to leverage combustion in a controlled environment called a firebox, which allows for the efficient burn of one of two sources; oil or gas. Once the regulated chamber – referred to as the firebox- has reached a specific temperature, the pressurized warm air is then allowed to escape through the ventilation system at the mercy of a fan controlled by a series of thermostats located throughout your home.
Efficient circulation is dependent on a carefully engineered yet simple duct system. Complex in the manner in which it effortlessly facilitates the flow and return of hot and cool air through the rooms in your home yet a simple feedback loop operating in a cyclic fashion to maintain air pressure at a constant while providing the same luxury in the form of heat.
Radiant Heat
A boiler is a central unit responsible for leveraging combustion, air pressure, and hot water to heat air in a controlled environment and propelling it through a series of “convectors”- baseboard units which have larely replaced old fashioned radiators. The water temperature is regulated by a series of thermostats ultimately serving as the feedback loop that controls the ignition of the furnace which heats the hot water boiler in a cyclic fashion.
